Richie McDonald, lead singer of Lonestar, performed at the open house for Jackson Christian. Later, he performed an acoustic concert of Lonestar’s biggest hits and holiday music in the school’s main gym, an event open to all members of the Jackson Christian community.
McDonald visited the school in October. Afterward, he said he wanted to come back and give a free concert, Benton said.
The Lead Campaign, a three-year initiative, has reached the $2 million mark of its $3.3 million goal, said Mark Benton, president of the school, at the event for donors and board members.
The campaign will contribute to the middle and high school expansion, to soccer and tennis complexes, to a theater room, a science lab and other classrooms.
“The purpose [of the open house] is to celebrate what God has done on this campus and to thank the people who’ve given sacrificially,” Benton said.
